Vacancy for Research Personnel under Projects

Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India wishes to engage the following research personnel (Indian national only) on purely temporary basis.   1. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST (JRB) – 2 POSTS
    • Project Title: Bird/Wildlife Hazard mitigation in Cochin International Airport (Duration- 01 year; Project PI- Dr. P.V. Karunakaran)
    • Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Zoology/ Botany / Environmental Science / Life Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks
    • Desirable: Field identification of Flora and Fauna, Knowledge of Malayalam language and Computer skills in Excel, word, and office.
    • Upper Age limit as on 08-Apr-2024 : 28 Years
    • Fellowship: Rs. 31,000+HRA
    • Description of Work: Field survey of flora and fauna focussing on birds. Interaction with locals to gather primary data on landscape, bird and animal movements. Documentation and report writing
  2. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (RA) – 1 POST
    • Project Title: Bird/Wildlife Hazard mitigation in JSW Jindal Airport, Vijayanagar (Duration- 01 year; Project PI- Dr. P. Pramod)
    • Essential Qualifications: Ph.D with M.Sc. in Zoology/ Wildlife biology with a minimum of 55% marks and minimum 3 years of experience in field research related to Ornitholoy/ wildlife
    • Desirable: Experience in Bird/Wildlife Hazard mitigation and Field identification of Flora and Fauna.
    • Upper Age limit as on 08-Apr-2024 : 35 Years
    • Fellowship: Rs. 52,000+HRA
    • Description of Work: Overall coordination of the field activities of the project, data collection, monitoring, data analysis, report preparation.
  3. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST (JRB) – 1 POST
    • Project Title: Bird/Wildlife Hazard mitigation in JSW Jindal Airport, Vijayanagar (Duration- 01 year; Project PI- Dr. P. Pramod)
    • Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Zoology/ Botany / Environmental Science / Life Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks
    • Desirable: Field identification of Flora and Fauna, Knowledge of Kannada language and Computer skills in Excel, word, and office.
    • Upper Age limit as on 08-Apr-2024 : 28 Years
    • Fellowship: Rs. 31,000+HRA
    • Description of Work: Field survey of flora and fauna focussing on birds. Interaction with locals to gather primary data on landscape, bird and animal movements. Documentation and report writing.
  4. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST (JRB) – 2 POSTS
    • Project Title: Bird/Wildlife Hazard mitigation in AAI airports (Duration- 10 months; Project PI- Dr. P. Pramod)
    • Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Zoology/ Botany / Environmental Science / Life Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks
    • Desirable: Field identification of Flora and Fauna, Knowledge of Hindi language and Computer skills in Excel, word, and office
    • Upper Age limit as on 08-Apr-2024 : 28 Years
    • Fellowship: Rs. 31,000+HRA
    • Description of Work: Field survey of flora and fauna focussing on birds. Interaction with locals to gather primary data on landscape, bird and animal movements. Documentation and report writing
  5. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST (JRB) – 01 POST
    • Project Title: Impacts on migratory birds and the local biodiversity from the Proposed Residential Complex ‘UTPALAA’ by Ambuja Realty Development Limited, at Kolkata, West Bengal. (Duration- 01 Year; Project PI- Dr. Arun, P.R)
    • Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Zoology/ Botany / Environmental Science / Life Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks
    • Desirable: Aptitude in field studies and field experience in flora and fauna identification and quantification. Relevant Research experience and publications Computer skills (MS Office, Statistical and GIS softwares)
    • Upper Age limit as on 08-Apr-2024 : 28 Years
    • Fellowship: Rs. 37,000 + HRA
    • Description of Work: Conduct field surveys and document flora and fauna in the project areas, compilation and analysis of data and writing scientific reports/articles

  1. Candidates applying for the above positions should possess all the essential Qualifications (with originals of supporting documents) as on the date of application deadline.
  2. A candidate can apply for a maximum of two advertised positions only. Candidates applying for two positions should submit separate sets of applications and attachments.
  3. The upper age limit may be relaxed as per applicable Central Government norms (up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/ Scheduled Tribes/ physically handicapped and female applicants, whereas 3 years in case of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer candidates))
  4. Selected candidates will be provided with hostel accommodation while at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel will be admissible as per the rules.
