BRIEF RESUME

Dr.Arunobtained hisMasters degree in Zoology with specialization in Entomology from the University of Calicut, Kerala, and was among the first batch of research scholarsjoind SACON in 1993. He was awarded Ph.D. from Bharathiar University of Coimbatore for his work on “Seasonality and abundance of insects with special reference to butterflies (Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera) in the Moist deciduous forests of Siruvani, Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in 2000.His research interests are in objective interdisciplinary Ecological research,especially on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Jurisprudence and Ecological Entomology. He has a special interest in ecology of Butterflies. He is also keen on developing sustainable livelihood options and applied aspects of Entomology including Apiculture and Butterfly parks.

He joined SACON as a faculty member in 2010, and has been involved in several Environmental Assessment projects since then. He is also a member of expert committees of Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India (Expert Committee/Task Force to evaluate R&D Proposals to study the Possible impact of EMF Radiation Exposure from Mobile Towers and Handsets on Life (Humans, Living Organism, Flora & Fauna & Environment) and Related R&D initiatives) and Himachal Pradesh Govt. (Interdisciplinary committee to advice the State Government on the issues relating to Hydel Power Projects in the State.).He is also a recognized research Guide/ Supervisor in Zoology and Environmental Sciences at Bharatiar University since 2011. Earlier, he has also worked with Environmental Justice Initiative of Socio-Legal Information Centre (SLIC) Mumbai, Gujarat Institute of desert Ecology (GIODE) Kutchch and the Green Alternatives, Mumbai.

Dr Arun has 100 scientific publications to his credit, including 22 peer reviewed papersin Scientific journals, 38 scientific technical reports, 16 conference papers and 15 popular articles (Updated till March 2016).
